The doctoral dissertation "conotubus hemiannulatus and gaojiashania cyclus in the late Ediacaran Gaojiashan biota of Ningqiang, Shaanxi Province: the study of fossil burial and paleoecology" directed by Cai Yaoping, a doctoral student of 2011, was named the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation in 2013, and the excellent doctoral thesis in Shaanxi Province

Direction:It is mainly devoted to the study of Precambrian Paleontology and stratigraphy, especially the study of the face of biota and its environmental changes before the "Cambrian explosion", the origin and early evolution of skeleton organisms, fossil burial, Mesoproterozoic Neoproterozoic stromatolites and biostratigraphy.
