Recently, the Chinese Geological Society announced the selection results of the third batch of high-quality geological research routes and the second batch of high-quality geological research courses. Our department has been approved by the Chinese Geological Society for the third batch of high-quality geological research routes. 

In recent years, the geological discipline of our department has fully played the leading role of world-class discipline popularization, enlightened students' exploration awareness, disseminated earth science knowledge, improved the quality of geological research and learning practical education services, fully utilized discipline resources and the unique geological, biological, and historical background advantages and characteristics of the Qinling Mountains. Relying on the platform of the "Northwest University Geological Science Popularization Research Base" of the Chinese Geological Society, we have actively explored and developed high-quality geological research and learning routes in conjunction with the Qinling Natural Education Camp - the Fengyu and Laoyu lines of the Qinling Zhongnan Mountain World Geopark Science Examination Line, supporting teaching in the camp and investigation courses outside the camp, leading students to systematically understand the structural evolution history of the Qinling orogenic belt, and inspiring students to understand the evolution of the Qinling orogenic belt. Cultivate curiosity, interest in learning Earth science, and scientific literacy. 

The Northwest University Geological Science Popularization and Research Base is composed of teachers, graduate students, and undergraduate students from the Department of Geology of our university. Its aim is to target young people in geological education, actively carry out various geological science popularization education activities, attempt to improve the stage geological knowledge structure of primary and secondary schools, and cultivate potential new forces in geology. In 2022, it was rated as the "Science Popularization Research Base of the Chinese Geological Society", and in 2023, it was rated as the "Shaanxi Province Science Popularization Education Base (Second Batch)".
