On September 4th, the 2026 National Science Popularization Month hosted by the Xi'an Association for Science and Technology was held at the Chang'an Cloud Xi'an Science and Technology Museum. The Department of Geology was invited to participate as a popular science education venue for earth sciences in Xi'an.

At the event site, our department carefully arranged a science popularization booth for earth science, bringing over a hundred exhibits including mineral specimens, three major rock specimens, microscopes, rock thin sections, fossilized teeth of ancient vertebrates, and fossilized fossils of ancient organisms, attracting many citizens to stop and visit.

"How come there are patterns on this stone? ”Facing the audience's questions one by one, the members of the science popularization vanguard team and the responsible teacher patiently explained and demonstrated in detail, using easy to understand language to explain professional geological knowledge. It is worth mentioning that many children aged two or three have also shown a strong interest in fossil exhibits. Accompanied by their parents, they carefully observe and curiously ask questions, becoming a beautiful scenery on site.

This event is another vivid practice for our department to leverage its disciplinary advantages and serve the society in science popularization. In the future, the Department of Geology will continue to rely on professional resources to carry out various forms of popular science activities, contributing to the improvement of the scientific literacy of the entire population.
