The Northwest University Competition Organizing Committee attaches great importance to the organization of this competition, has held multiple examination meetings and invigilation training, closely communicated with various examination centers, and comprehensively coordinated the competition arrangements. This competition has a total of 4530 middle school students participating, including 3090 students from the Shaanxi region, setting a new record for the number of participants. The participating units cover 43 schools including Northwestern Polytechnical University Affiliated Middle School, Tieyi Middle School, Gaoxin No.1 Middle School, Shaanxi Normal University Affiliated Middle School, and Northwestern University Affiliated Middle School, with a total of 80 standardized computer-based examination rooms; A total of 1440 middle school students participated in this year's Xinjiang competition, covering 22 schools including Urumqi Experimental School, Urumqi No.8 Middle School, Turpan Experimental Middle School, etc. There were a total of 42 standardized computer-based exams set up in the competition area. During the preparation stage of the exam, the organizing committee of the competition organized multiple inspections to various examination sites, focusing on key aspects such as examination room layout, equipment operation, invigilation performance, and emergency response, to ensure that the examination room is orderly, the examination atmosphere is strict, and the examination discipline is strict, fully guaranteeing the safe and orderly conduct of the exam.
The National Earth Science Olympiad for Middle School Students is one of the subject based competition activities approved by the Ministry of Education and aimed at middle school students nationwide. It mainly tests and assesses students' knowledge and abilities in the fields of geology (including geomorphology), geophysics, seismology, meteorology, oceanography, astronomy, and environmental science, aiming to create a learning platform for Earth science, stimulate students' interest in learning, select and cultivate young Earth science talents, and promote the continuous development of Earth science education.
. In the next stage, the competition committee will select and recommend participants to enter the national training team for the International Earth Science Olympiad. Outstanding team members will represent their countries in the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) and showcase the contemporary Chinese students on the world stage.
