From October 12 to 13, 2024, at the initiative of the Department of Geosciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Second China Geothermal Frontier Forum, sponsored by the Geothermal Professional Committee of the Chinese Geophysical Society and hosted by the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held in Beijing. Nearly 500 representatives and guests of the geothermal industry attended the conference. Our postdoctoral fellow Qi Kai and 2022 doctoral student Liu Jian have respectively presented reports titled "Research on the Thermal Evolution History of the Deep Middle Upper Proterozoic Ordovician in the Ordos Basin" and "Hydrogeochemical and Genetic Mechanisms of the Geothermal System in the Xi'an Depression of the Weihe Basin", both of which have won the Outstanding Youth Report Award at the conference. The report provides a detailed introduction to the early geothermal field and thermal evolution history of the Middle Proterozoic Ordovician in Ordos, as well as the latest research progress on the hydrochemical characteristics and genesis of geothermal fields in the Weihe Basin. The discussion at the venue was intense and attracted widespread attention from the attending representatives
