Practical teaching has long been the teaching philosophy upheld by undergraduate education in the Department of Geology. With strong support from the Department of Geology at Northwest University, Professor Zhang Dengfei from the Geological Engineering Teaching and Research Office, in collaboration with Liu Yang, Chairman of Shaanxi Ningyuan New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., and Professor Deng Guohua, a senior engineer at Xi'an Huangtu Underground Engineering Technology Consulting Co., Ltd., focuses on the major engineering problems of shield tunnel segment diseases that occur in underground engineering construction and operation in the loess region. Based on the only large-scale shield tunnel segment loading test platform in the northwest region, practical teaching of the undergraduate professional core course "Reinforced Concrete Structure Design" is carried out, aiming to enhance students' perception and problem-solving abilities in underground engineering shield tunnels through large-scale engineering practice
